Privacy Policy

Perrett's Court Management Company Ltd (henceforth known as "The Company") will treat any information on this site with due diligence. The Company will only use the personal information you have provided to contact you with regard to normal company business. None of your personal details will ever be disclosed, sold, traded or otherwise passed on to any outside third party.

Owners of a long term lease (henceforth called "Members") to an apartment in the block called Perretts Court are entitling to automatic membership of The Company which is the ultimate owner of the freehold of the block. References to "Tenants" indicates residents in any apartment in the block, to whom the apartment is sublet on a short term lease by the owning Member, and such sublet may or may not be managed on behalf of the Member by a letting agent.

Members will have an account on the site. Tenants may do so; it is not mandatory, but very useful for keeping all residents abreast of the business (e.g. maintenance works) of The Company.

Members elect directors from their number to manage The Company on their behalf. All such directors will, of necessity, have full access to all company data but are bound by current data protection legislation and must treat any personal information of either Members or Tenants as private and confidential. Law enforcement requests may require us to divulge some data. Aside from directors access (required to carry out their role) and law enforcement demands for specific data, we assert your information is safe and secure and that:

  • No Member or Tenant details will be released to any third parties.
  • No Member or Tenant may access any other Member or Tenant details for any purpose.
  • No Member or Tenant may pass any other Member or Tenant details to any third parties.
  • Members and Tenants are permitted to contact other Members and Tenants through this web site - the act of doing so does not divulge your personal details nor those of the person you are contacting, except and necessarily you sending them your email address at the time of contact; but that is your choice and not one forced upon you by the workings of the site.

Members Contact Details

Members are specifically required to use the site to keep their own contact details current as per the terms of their lease. The Company reserves the right to update member and tenant details on a regular basis if necessary.

Cookies

Small text files called cookies are used by this website to make a user's experience more useful and practical. One cookie is used to manage your login process, and permitting your subsequent navigation of the site, and another temporary cookie is used for tracking purposes. Let's discuss the login cookie first.

Login cookie

When you log in to any site, not just this one, a login cookie is created to store your login credentials for the duration of that visit. If no such cookie were created, you'd have to log in afresh each time you navigated to another page - clearly awkward thing; a login cookie prevents this, making it a useful thing. Whether or not that cookie is deleted at the end of your visit to the site largely depends on how you have configured your browser. Using an up to date browser, you can configure its management of your cookies as you please.

You may choose to keep your login cookie (stored as a file on your computer and containing your personal login details) across visits or you may choose to delete it after the end of each visit. The benefit of saving the file across sessions is that you don't have to re-enter your user name and / or your password on each visit. The downside is the potential security risk of having a file stored on your computer that can easily be read by anyone with a modicum of know how should they ever gain access to your machine. That may not be too much of a risk on a desktop machine at home, but what about that tablet, or phone you carry around with you?

You can configure your browser to delete all cache files at the end of your browser session. It means you have to re-type names and passwords each time you log in, but you might consider that a small price to pay for the extra security: that may be especially relevant if it's your bank's web site involved.

If you wish to learn more about the management of cookies please refer to this how-to guide for detailed instructions covering most browsers.

Tracking cookie

And secondly, there is a tracking cookie which is used to log visits to the site, and record some facts about that visit, such as pages visited, length of time on the site, or on each page. No direct personal information is retained during this tracking process and no information is used for any marketing, or other profiling purposes whatsoever. The information gathered is used solely to gauge the effectiveness of the site and to put that information to use in making ongoing improvements.

Unlike many sites, the Company does not use Google Analytics for this tracking process, we use an open source alternative called (quaintly) Piwik. The benefits are that none of your use of the site is therefore available to by Google, a large corporate with a business model based on monitoring and recording everything you do on the web.
