History of the area

Perrett's Court was built in 1988. We know very little about the site on which it is built other than that it was formerly an almshouse belonging to St Raphael's church. It seems to have been an almshouse for sailors. To the east of our building is what we believe to be a remnant of one of the walls of the old church but we don't know what happened to the church, or indeed what happened to the almshouses.

One link you may like is the "Know your Place" page, courtesy of Bristol City Council. Navigate to roughly where our block is and zoom in to the closest level of detail. There should be a box in the top right showing "Map options". Click the radio button against "2012 aerial" and you will see our trademark terracotta coloured tiled roof.

Go down through the rest of the radio buttons to travel back in time.

That is as much as we know about the history of the site and this immediate area, so if you are a historian who can tell us more we'd be delighted to hear from you.
